Underwriter's Laboratories Employees and Family Members
Pack 50,000 Meals.
On November 12, 2016, Underwriter's Laboratories held their 5rd annual meal packing event at their Corporate Headquarters in Northbrook, IL.
Over 200 employees and family members came out on a Saturday morning to help pack 50,000 nutritious meals. Nearly 12,000 of these meals were donated to Jesse Brown VA Hospital in Chicago. Those meals were distributed to Veterans in need. The remaining meals were donated to local area food pantries distributed by Northern Illinois Food Bank.
This years event was truly special on two fronts. First, UL and Feed6 partnered up with Hunger Resource Network. On this day, Hunger Resource passed out 126,000 pounds of frozen chicken that was staged in UL's parking Lot. These frozen chickens were picked up that day by various food pantries and soup kitchens. Secondly, with the generosity of UL and the help from their employees, FEED6 was able to cross over the 3,000,000 meal mark for packaging and distributing nutritious meals.
