LEMONT HIGH SCHOOL
May 11, 2024
On Saturday, May 11th, 2024 hundreds of Lemont High School students and faculty members gathered to package 100,000 nutritious meals of Pasta with Tomato Basil Sauce for food insecure kids, families, seniors, and veterans in local Chicago-area communities.
Under the leadership of Lemont’s National Honor Society President, Marty Kaminski, and supported by faculty advisors Trisha Weber and Marek Dron, a steering committee of NHS students coordinated fundraising, marketing, and logistical planning for the event in collaboration with the Feed6 team. Remarkably, the students raised the required $35,000 to purchase the ingredients for the meals in just a few weeks - a fund raising achievement unprecedented at Lemont.
The celebratory event featured the high-vibe music of talented, young DJ Julian, whose playlist inspired the packaging volunteers to achieve record production rates during the two-shifts, even while swaying and dancing to the pounding beats.
The meals were collected that afternoon and will be distributed to neighbors need by the West Suburban Community Food Pantry.
Our appreciation to Marty Kaminski, the National Honor Society, Lemont’s faculty and administration, and the many generous donors whose contributions, funds, and passion resulted in such an extraordinary event - and such a great gift of nutrition and sustenance to neighbors in need.
