Holy Apostles Surpasses 1 Million Meals Packed
On January 24, 2026, volunteers packed over 76,000 meals--
pushing Holy Apostles’ total impact since 2017 past the one-million-meal milestone.
On January 24, 2026, Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church hosted its eleventh meal-packaging event in collaboration with FEED6–Outreach—marking a historic milestone as the community surpassed 1 million meals packed since 2017.
More than 300 volunteers came together to prepare 76,464 nutritious Pasta with Tomato Basil Sauce meals, fueling families and neighbors in need across the region. The impact of the day was recognized by NBC News, which attended the event to cover this powerful moment of service and community.
From the very young to the very old, volunteers of all abilities donned aprons, hairnets, and gloves, joining hearts and hands to create meals specifically designed to nourish bodies and uplift spirits. The atmosphere blended purpose, joy, and connection as production lines formed to carefully measure, heat-seal, and box each meal—culminating in a spirited cheer celebrating their shared gift to those in need.
The meals were picked up by Project HOPE (Humanitarian Outreach and Philanthropic Engagement) and distributed to local families. HOPE partners with parishes in the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago and local community networks to advance food security and support stable housing for individuals and families facing hardship.
While food safety and quality remained paramount, the experience proved deeply enriching and, for many, transformative—demonstrating how collective action can turn compassion into measurable impact.
Thank you, Holy Apostles, for being a cornerstone partner in FEED6’s mission to help end hunger—one meal, one family, and one community at a time.
